I could say the same thing about eating South American beef, or buying
Nestle products.  This doesn't mean that I advocate making these
activities illegal.

In the case of coffee and tea, you have the option of buying them from
(allegedly) non-exploitative sources.  The illegal status of certain
other drugs denies you this choice.
