I must apologise for this, which was my fault. I had understood that
co.uk, org.uk, and gov.uk were being treated symmetrically; this is not
the case.

It seems that the co.uk `partial domain' entry in the NRS is a trial.
If the trial is successful, partial domain entries for gov.uk and org.uk
will be made on 1st July.

[ This begs some interesting questions: why is the (relatively) enormous
co.uk domain acting as a pilot for the tiny org.uk and gov.uk domains?;
what are the criteria for the success of the trial?; if the trial is
unsuccessful, what happens to the dozens of co.uk domains that have been
registered in the DNS (but not the NRS) since 1st March?; why is it
currently possible to register an org.uk domain in the DNS only? ]

I have sent a registration to the NRS administrators, together with
a note asking them to expedite its entry into the database if at all
possible, but it has not appeared yet :-(.

Some advice.

1. To users who are unable to mail bbcnc.org.uk: if (and *only* if) you
are at a greybook only site, or a site which only believes the NRS for
org.uk, you should use an explicit source route:

    <user>%bbcnc.org.uk@pipex.co.uk

or possibly

    <user>%uk.org.bbcnc@uk.co.pipex

[ Note that my usual advice about "if you have to use an explicit source
route, something's broken" still stands. In this case, something *is*
broken. It should be fixed in the next few days. ]

2. To postmasters at the above sites: please consider believing the DNS
as well as the NRS for org.uk and gov.uk (why not ac.uk, too?) now. If
you are unable or unwilling to do this, please at least ensure that you
are getting regular updates of the NRS database.
