What have you tried?

My backup scripts revolve around something like this.

    dump 0fu - / |dd obs=64k of=/dev/rmt/0cn

/dev/rmt/0cn is, of course, the (Solaris) tape device.  (Incidentally,
you'll almost certainly get better results with hardware compression, if
the tape drive supports it.)
