The `sort' command is the usual way of sorting things in any shell.  It
is not defined which sorting algorithm it uses, and I can't see why
you'd care.

If you really need to implement the sorting algorithm called "shell
sort" (that "shell" is completely different from the the "shell" in the
name of this group), then: i) you are expecting us to do your homework
for you, and ii) you should post what you've got so far, and explain why
it doesn't work.
