The `rc' shell: beta release rc-1.5b6

A new beta release of rc is available, rc-1.5b6.

rc offers features similar to a traditional Bourne shell, but with a
cleaner, C-like syntax (much more so than the C shell). It is ideal
for scripting, and when linked with GNU readline, or similar, makes a
pleasant interactive shell.

This beta release is a "release candidate": unless problems are found,
it will be made a full release in a couple of weeks. Since rc uses
GNU automake, the build process should be completely painless. I
would particularly appreciate hearing from anybody who successfully
(or otherwise!) builds rc on platforms other than RedHat, Solaris 2,
FreeBSD, and Digital Unix (those four are the ones I have easy access
to).

You can obtain rc from here.

If you don't have gzip handy, remove the `.gz' for an uncompressed
tarball. If you are unable to use HTTP to obtain rc, please contact me
and we'll figure out some way to get it to you.

More information about rc can be found here.

Thanks to all the people who have contributed to this release, by
suggesting ideas, contributing code, or giving feedback on earlier
releases.
